Travel. This word can cause conflicting feelings for me. First, there’s the excitement of getting to go somewhere new whether it is for business or pleasure. This eventually turns to the anxiety of airport procedures, which are appreciated, but usually annoying. But, for me, with everything that goes into planning for a successful trip, the actual getting on the airplane and flying is the worst part. (Long story short… I HATE flying!)
As a mom of 2 young children, it is rare that I travel alone, but I recently took a short trip to MN to attend the General Mills Table Talk Event AND I’m planning a long weekend to attend the Type-A Mom Conference in Asheville, NC. (Woohoo!) With these short trips, I realized that I needed luggage for myself that didn’t look like a diaper bag and that could be easily carried on the plane. (Don’t even get me started on checked baggage…)
My search began on the internet, where I discovered way too many options for a standard piece of luggage that can be used as a carry-on. Then I decided that I should probably narrow it down a bit, so of course, I typed in “pink carry-on luggage”. You would think this would help, but there were still SO many choices. I did however notice that many of these options were provided by www.ebags.com, a site that specializes in bags of any size, style, color and price for whatever you need.
I had the opportunity to review the most beautiful piece of pink luggage I could find on eBags, the xcase® by Heys USA, Inc., which is supposedly “The World’s Lightest Carry-on”…
MY THOUGHTS
PROS:
- It is definitely lightweight. I don’t have very strong arm muscles (even though I could pick up and carry my 6 year old at a moment’s notice…lol) and since my husband wouldn’t be there to help lug around my “necessities”, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to handle a carry-on alone. But at a mere 5.4lbs, the xcase® didn’t add any unnecessary weight to my already over-packed bags, and I was even able to lift it to the over-head compartment on the plane without any trouble.
- It may be lightweight, but it is also super strong. The hard bodied xcase® features a protective light weight shell that kept all my belongings from being squashed by other people’s heavy luggage. So, “good-bye” broken bottle of perfume or busted tube of tooth paste! You will never ruin any more of my clothes!
- It is much larger than it looks. When I think “carry-on luggage”, I get nervous that I won’t be able to fit everything I need into it, especially when I know that I won’t be checking any other luggage. But with the xcase®, I was able to fit enough for a few days and even a few extra pieces, just in case I changed my mind about what to wear.(AND I was able to carry 4 pairs of heeled shoes!)
CONS:
- My xcase® in fuchsia is beautiful, super shiny and super cute. But the very first day I used it, I realized that scratches were inevitable. I was aware of this before I chose it, but I always think, “Maybe that person doing the review won’t be as careful as I am…” But I soon discovered that no matter how careful you are, this case is destined to get scratched. These barely noticeable scratches do not affect its fantastic features at all, but if you want a piece of luggage that looks brand new every trip, this may not be the perfect choice.
OVERALL:
- I love my xcase® by Heys USA, Inc. that I received from www.ebags.com. Not only is it a fantastic piece of luggage, my entire experience with eBags was phenomenal. They offer so many choices that are perfect for any style traveler on any budget.
Be sure to visit WWW.EBAGS.COM to find your perfect bag for that perfect trip!
