Congratulations to Laurie Murley– comment #40
Who says flooring can’t be fashionable? I have recently discovered a very posh option for affordable, practical and beautiful area rugs.
“FLOR’s unique design system of 19.7-inch squares comes in a range of easy to coordinate colors, textures and patterns that you can mix and match styles to create designs to fit any space – rugs, runners or wall-to-wall.” – FLOR.com
MY THOUGHTS
I had the opportunity to try these modular carpet tiles to create a unique space in my own home. I chose an alternating stripe pattern, the Terra tiles in Furrow to place under my dining room table.
Pros
- I get to be the designer. With choosing a patterned rug, I was able to switch and turn the tiles until I was happy with the ultimate look. And as often as I like to redecorate, simply changing the direction of the tiles creates a whole new look, so the design options are endless.
- It is simple. I usually need my husband to help in putting things together, but using the super smart FLORdots to connect the tiles creating one solid rug was very easy and I was proud of myself once my little DIY project was complete.
- It is very affordable. Starting at less than $10 per tile, you could almost tile your entire house with these awesome tiles without going broke. (well, depending on the size of your house…lol)
Cons
- Not carpet-friendly. Before I placed my new rug under my dining table (which sits on a tiled floor) I wanted to see how it would look in my living room just in case I decided to purchase more for other parts of the house. I left it there for a full day to watch how it worked. It didn’t take long for it to wind up twisted and crooked on my carpeted floor because there is no “grip” on the bottom and it wasn’t heavy enough to hold itself down.
Overall
- As long as you are intending on using the FLOR area rugs on a hard surface, I say you can’t beat them. With hundreds (maybe even thousands) of design possibilities, FLOR is definitely the way to go to save money and get style.
