You Need This: Open It!

You guys are going to think I’m crazy but I have to discuss one of my addictions, the new Open It! from Zibra. I know, I know. It’s not a purse or a pair of shoes, it’s not pink, and honestly it’s not even that pretty, but I am Obsessed, and yes, the capital “O” was intentional. “O” as in O-M-G, I’m Obsessed with the Open It!

This handy multi-tool does it all, it cuts through tough plastic, it snips through those pesky twist ties that come 20 per toy box, it slices through CD and DVD wrappers, it screws, it opens, the list goes on. Basically, it does everything to help get me through the holidays stress-free (and injury-free) except actually clean my house.

Since most of us are moms here, please tell me you agree with me when I express how much I hate packaging. Is it not insane how far companies go to ensure that the toys are very securely in the boxes? Majority of the time it takes me longer to open a box than the length of time my toddler actually has interest in the toy. This is why I like puzzles, you open the box, the pieces are loose and your kid can spend an hour or so putting it together. That’s how toys are supposed to work. The holidays are a time to relax, not the time to break a sweat trying to get Barbie’s pigtails out of shackles.

I have the original Open It! which I purchased at Bed, Bath & Beyond last year, we use it often. So often that when the UPS guy drops off boxes now, my daughter says “go get the orange scissor”. The new 5-in-1 Open It! is similar to the original with a few new features. One very important new feature is the added safety cap that covers the auto-retract blade as well as a bottle opener and removable screwdriver.

I can probably sit here for another hour and tell you about all the features of the Open It! But I’ll do you one better….
