Pregnancy…It’s Kind of Like a Rollercoaster!

1. Several breakdowns from simply looking in the mirror: This is not a joke. I have been feeling a little down lately, and it doesn’t help that everything I wear is suddenly tight on me or that it feels like my belly is growing at at such a rapid pace that I feel I just can’t keep up.
2. I get angered more easily over the “little” things: Yes, it’s true. I find myself getting upset that my husband forgot to take out the trash or that my dogs knocked something over during their playtime. Grrr!
3. Everything makes me cry: And, I mean everything. Whether it’s a commercial advertising Rice Krispies® Cereal or listening to a country song on the radio, they seem to get me every single time.
4. Multiple-Personalities Perhaps?: Some days, I’m just not sure about this one. For instance, I can be completely happy and laughing about something one moment and then the next it’s as if I’m upset again. My husband swears I’m crazy, but I’ll just blame that on hormones for now and leave it up to interpretation later.
Okay, so it’s not like I’m not enjoying this pregnancy, but to be completely honest here…Now that I have a toddler who consumes most of my day, I’ve had less time to focus on this actual pregnancy. I have been more occupied with things I need to get done before the new baby arrives and my focus has been shifted. This pregnancy is nothing like my first one, in which I had hours to just sit around and think about how great it was to be pregnant and how happy I was all the time, probably due to the fact that I got a lot more rest. I should mention, that I haven’t been able to take one lousy nap this whole pregnancy vs. during my first pregnancy in which I would literally nap off and on all day long. Those glorious days are long gone and they will be missed dearly. But I can’t say that life hasn’t gotten sweeter, it’s just gotten busier. And, maybe I’ve gotten a tad bit more irritable, but I’m sure I’ll get over it soon enough!
So, what do you think fellow Mama’s, have you ever felt this way during subsequent pregnancies, or am I really going crazy here?

hmm, you may not want to know my opinion on a second pregnancy or how you feel afterward. let’s just say i got (and am getting) through it all one day at a time. just be sure to make a point to enjoy all the little things because those get overlooked and forgotten to quickly. and don’t blow up over simple “disasters”. the magazine-clean house is over and so are the daily showers… but you’ll have 2 beautiful babies to call your own.
Sounds completely normal to me (and I have four kids!). Enjoy what you can, and don’t stress about what you can’t (enjoy). Like you said, things shift, it’s par for the course. Just make sure you get a little spoiling time in for yourself here and there…you totally deserve it! Happy Holidays!
I can not help but to laugh at crying at country songs on the radio, because I was the same way with my 3rd pregnancy! Every time I turned around I was crying, the entire dang pregnancy!
All 5 of my pregnancies were so different and I experienced different emotions with them. The same way you are. You’re not crazy, I promise!
