This is our first meme participation here at Pink & Posh. First I’ll explain a bit about “Take Me Back Tuesday” then I’ll explain the picture, cool?
How do you play along?
We all have tons of photos from the days before the digital camera. I figure if I just scan a few each week, eventually I will get them all safely into my computer. But you don’t need a scanner to participate – Just find a photo that takes you back to another time.
Every week you can go to A Giveaway Addicted Mommy and share photos that “take you back.” Maybe it is the bad hair we all had in the 80’s or the bell-bottoms you swore were so hip in the 70’s.
If you decide to participate, sign the Linky over at AGAM and start sharing your photos!
Simple enough, right?
Ok, so here is goes…

This photo is of me and my mom in 1979.
In the late 80’s my mother contracted the HIV virus and passed away in ‘94. Two lives were cut short that day, the second one being my childhood. She was my best friend and always will be. She inspires me to be a better mother to my daughter and to fight with every ounce of fight I have in me. She taught me to cherish every single day you have on this Earth. She taught me to have fun in any situation you are dealt with. She taught me to be honest, to be brave and to love everyone. She taught me to be who I am today.
While I can’t bring back those days, we can join in the fight to bring an end to this deadly disease. Raise awareness, it’s the only cure we have right now.

Nicole, I am so proud of you! Just sayin…
Well thank you, my love. Now get your old photos ready for next week =) LOL
no way, i just bought my zebra snuggie!
Nicole,
I too am so proud of you! What a wonderful post and a beautiful photo of you and your mother!
1. Thank you for joining in – I love to see into everyone’s lives each week.
2. I had to take a moment, take a deep breath, and then continue to read – a few times – as I made my way through that post.
What a wonderful tribute and while I can not say that I know how hard that must have been for you to live through, I want you to know that you give me strength – I am in awe of you and all you do.
Nicole, I love you. That’s all I have to say. I do.
Hugs! What a precious photo. Your mom would be very proud of you!
What a beautiful post.. She is in heaven proud as can be of you!!
What a beautiful picture of you and your Mother! I am so sorry for your loss, I too am sure she is very proud of you.
And welcome to Take Me Back Tuesdays too!
Oh Nicole. What a beautiful photo. My heart hurts for you. I’m amazed at how far the medical community has come with AIDS, but there is still a long way to go.
